MEET GRADUATE 2026 Amanda Kessaris
Title: Is_anyone_there?.png
In 'Is_anyone_there?.png' I reconstruct childhood memories through discarded building materials and examine the duality of how technology can simultaneously make us absent and present. The PNG pattern, created in mosaic, functions as both a blank canvas and negative space – a digital void where one can "cut and paste" that or those who have been, may never have been, or will one day be, to fill the space. Here I remove the people from a snapshot in a longing to be able to insert myself again – in time, place and memory. The series of works revolves around belonging, nostalgia, longing and loss of time. Across media, I create traces of what once was, and let memories of vanished places and situations emerge. Based on both personal and general human experiences, I examine how our fast, digital and overproducing contemporary world awakens a longing for the slow, the analog and for times we may never have known ourselves.
Amanda is graduating from the Hybrid department.
AFGANG 2026 can be seen at Aarhus Academy of Fine Arts from 21-31 May at 11am-5pm.
Opening 20 May at 3pm-6pm.
