The traditional Artists’ Summer Exhibition has taken place in Tistrup since 1973, and for the 53rd time there is pride in presenting the very latest art. 420 artists applied, and only a fraction of them made it through the jury’s narrow eye of the needle. The artists are selected solely on the quality of their works, as their identity (gender, age, geography, etc.) is concealed during the jurying process and they appear only as a number. Last year, KS took a break for the first time ever, but is now back with renewed energy. It is also the first time that the jurying has been carried out entirely digitally, which has placed demands on the applicants’ image material. There was some suspense, but it has gone beyond all expectations – in fact, it is 14 years since there was last such a large field of applicants. The hope is that this will be repeated when registration opens again in 2029 – as from now on KS is a triennial. The exhibition is still artist-run, as it is the year’s accepted artists who, at the end of the exhibition period, choose the next round of jurors. The jurors also curate the exhibition, while the staff from Vardemuseerne participate solely as administrators. This year’s jurors have been Teresa Larsen, Noelia Mora Solvez, Kirrily Hammond, Svend-Allan Sørensen and Jette Dalsgaard, and warm thanks are extended for their great and tireless efforts! Coordinating an exhibition like KS is a major task, and special thanks are therefore also due to the people who have helped realise this year’s presentation. This includes Olga, Kirstine, Søs and Henry, who ensured that the selected works were placed on the correct lists and were ready to receive the works; Maja Ki, who like a ten-armed octopus has handled everything from jurying to the opening; Mathilde, who created the exhibition’s graphic design; Fie, who designed the catalogue – and the Sydbank Foundation, which has generously supported the exhibition.
